What Does a Week in Hurghada with Kids Cost? Excursions, Fees and Tips for a Family of Four

What a week in Hurghada with kids costs depends first on the flight and the hotel, and these vary so much between a package deal in June and a Christmas holiday week that any figure would be dishonest. What can be calculated, though, is everything on top: the excursions, the fees charged in cash at the jetty, the tips and the visa.

The prices in this article come from our comparison of 224 offers, as of September 2026, and are starting prices per person. The calculations are for a family with two children.

Why We Calculate with Four Full Prices

Whether and how much less children pay is handled differently by each operator, and it rarely appears in the offer descriptions. Some charge a separate price for children, some don’t. What applies in each case is shown on the relevant booking page once you enter the children’s ages.

We therefore calculate with four full prices. That gives an upper limit for these tours, not a low estimate. Anyone who gets child prices pays less – not more.

The Prices Worth Knowing

Per person, with the price for four in brackets:

• Royal Seascope semi-submarine, around two hours: from €18.57 (€74.28)
• Speedboat to two islands with dolphin watching and snorkelling, four hours: from €33.25 (€133)
• Cruise to Orange Bay with lunch, eight and a half hours: from €45.65 (€182.60)
• Quad and camel ride, barbecue optional according to the title, three hours: from €23.40 (€93.60)
• Horse ride on the beach and in the desert, one to three hours depending on the language version: from €10.80 (€43.20)
• Luxor with the Valley of the Kings and Tutankhamun’s tomb as a day trip: from €80.03 (€320.12); one option from €67.50 lists the tomb only as an add-on
• Cairo and Giza by bus, 15 to 20 hours depending on the language version: from €65.33 (€261.32)

For context: half of the island trips cost less than around €45, half of the desert tours €27 or less. Three Weeks, Three Budgets

All three plans leave days free, because a boat trip can be cancelled for wind and because children need hotel days too.

The quiet week, for small children. A visit to the Grand Aquarium and, if boarding and sea conditions suit, the two-hour Seascope trip. Using four adult starting fares, that is €194.64: four times €30.09 plus four times €18.57. Check child fares, age limits and transfers separately for both offers. Leave the other days for the hotel and beach; a quad trip does not belong in this toddler budget.

The classic week, for primary-school-age children. Seascope to settle in, the cruise to Orange Bay, the quad tour with a camel ride, and the horse ride. That’s €393.68 at starting prices. The barbecue on the desert trip is optional according to its title; only the booking page shows whether the starting price includes it. What No Tour Price Includes

Giftun island trips may charge protected-area and island fees separately. Check the amount, currency, child policy and any cash payment on site for the specific offer. Official fees vary by area and visitor group, so there is no single amount for everyone. EEAA

The visa. Anyone buying a tourist visa on arrival at the airport pays US$30 per person or the equivalent in euros, according to the German Federal Foreign Office, at the bank counters before passport control; until the end of February 2026 it was US$25. Every child needs their own. For four people that’s US$120. Since August 2026, Egypt has been gradually switching to visas with a QR code, starting at Cairo airport, and has announced an additional processing fee for them. The tip. On boat trips it’s customary to give the crew something at the end, usually collected for the whole team. A local guide suggests 50 to 150 Egyptian pounds per person, roughly €2 to €5. Discover Hurghada For a family day that’s more like eight to twenty euros than two.

The wetsuit in winter. From December to March the water is around 22–24°C. Ask when booking whether a wetsuit in the right size is available and included in the price. With children who get cold quickly, this isn’t a luxury.

Water. The German Federal Foreign Office advises drinking only water from safe sources in Egypt and never tap water. German Federal Foreign Office Bottled water is cheap, but a family needs a lot of it on a hot day.

Where It Pays to Save – and Where It Doesn’t

It pays to save on the first outing. The Seascope costs less than half the Orange Bay trip and is often the better experience for small children. Saving on the quad shouldn’t be automatic. Four of the eight quad tours among the twenty most-reviewed tours in our catalogue, priced between just under €10 and €14, sit at 4.2 to 4.4 stars; the combination with a camel ride and optional barbecue for around ten euros more sits at 4.9. Then again, the ATV adventure in Makadi Bay for €10.50 sits at 4.7 stars: price alone says little. Reviews describe customer experiences, but establish neither a quad’s mechanical condition nor its suitability for children. Check the specific operator’s age limits, passenger rules, briefing and protective equipment.

Cairo: the flight doesn’t save the day, it saves the road. The bus option is listed in our catalogue at 15 to 20 hours depending on the language version, the flight option at 16 to 17. The difference isn’t in the length of the day but in spending around two hours in the air instead of ten to twelve hours on the bus. For four people that costs almost €700 more. Booking the boat day without a backup date. Many offers can be cancelled free of charge up to 24 hours in advance; what applies is shown on the booking page. Confirm extras in advance. Ask the operator which fees are excluded and how to pay them before going to the harbour.

One excursion a day, just because it’s cheap. Hurghada is cheap enough to book something every day. Children rarely keep up with that pace.
